Learn all about the new MARA design.

The MARA has a bit more fabric at the underarm and a higher neckline with reinforced support. It is better suited for rigorous water activities and stays put through inversions.

ECONYL Certified post-consumer recycled nylon makes up both sides of the MARA.

MARA fits slightly different than TOURA because it has different proportions, and sits at a different location on the body. We recommend starting with your TOURA size, and sizing down if you are in between sizes.

Very nice bra

I don't like most bras in general as I find them all constricting and annoying. It took a few tries to find the right style and size with Tera Kaia, but this one was a winner. I'm 5'3" 115 lbs, with a muscular upper body and pretty small girls. I don't really need much support - I just need something for decency. But I could care less about "headlights" and am not sure when our society became so squeamish about nipples. The size 4 fits me well in this style. The bottom band is a little smaller and less structured than other sports bras, such that I don't feel like I have a boa constrictor around my rib cage. I like the classic racerback design as I'm not interested in complicated strap designs. And I appreciate that it does not come with those insert pads as I always throw them away - the last thing that I want is sweaty padding against my chest. I've worn this running and mountain biking and didn't really notice that I had it on. I'll see how it does in very hot weather. But so far, good.

The dark horse

I honestly didn’t think I was going to like this cut very much. My name is Bridget, and I’m one of the founders of TK. I am reviewing each of our products from my personal perspective, so you can get the honest truth straight from the horse’s mouth. Anyways, I’m an OG TOURA LC fan, and I really don’t like the TOURA HC. I expected the higher neckline on MARA would be even more “football player in a straight-jacket-ey” but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Once I added a MARA HC to my basewear drawer, I found myself grabbing it way more than expected. It’s ideal for any swimming situation because the LC can be danger zone when wet (I have definitely accidentally flashed someone after jumping in the water in my TOURA LC). The MARA solves that 100%. It’s now my go-to for floating the Owen’s river. I also thought for sure it would be less comfortable, or perhaps swassy-er because there’s more fabric coverage at the neckline and underarms… I was also certain the elastic added to the pec area was going to cut into my pecs creating the dreaded double-boob-pec. Miraculously, it doesn’t… like at all. I’m not really sure how our team managed to pull that off, but they did, and it’s magical. So, to my surprise, the MARA HC is getting a full 5 for me and is now in my usual rotation of basewear. I will note that the sizing is a bit different. I have always been a cusper Libra/Scorpio.. ahem I mean… in between SZ 4 and SZ 6 in the TOURA LC. Lol. I now wear a solid SZ 4 in the MARA. Hope this helps and if not you can always contact us for an exchange! Me or someone from our women-run team in Bishop will help you.

I enjoy how comfortable this bra is and feels like there is nothing there. It’s also very breathable and allows for me to wear it in the back country and still feel clean!

TK did it again

I am undeniable a TOURA die-hard, but I have now also fallen in love with the MARA. Just like with the TOURA, the design is adorable (trading in the strappy cool for sleek cool) and the color combinations are gorgeous! They are thankfully also reversible and water-friendly!

While I really love the TOURA (high and low cut) for "slower" activities like rock climbing, hiking, yoga, etc (and let's be completely honest here, I wear them literally every day because I can't stand the fit of regular bras any more thanks to TK), the MARA is exactly what I needed for more rigorous sports. Whether its jumping into rough beach break for a swim, going for a jog, or taking a tumble off a surfboard, you feel both comfortable and secure - you can feel confident that those lovely (or in my case little) lady lumps aren't going to make any unexpected appearances. I am super excited to take these out for some deep water soloing this summer, as I have no doubt they're going to be the perfect top for the job!

I also want to point out that for you fellow lat-gifted folk, fear not! I had originally been concerned that the extra coverage on these tops would result in a tighter and less comfortable fit but I am happy to say that isn't the case at all. These allow full range of motion and lat-flexing ;)
